Rendy Thamrin completed his undergraduate studies majoring in civil engineering at Universitas Andalas in 1993, then completed his master's program at the Institut Teknologi Bandung in 1999, completed his doctoral program in 2006 at Toyohashi University of Technology, currently working at the Civil Engineering Department, Universitas Andalas. He conducts research in Structural Engineering, Strengthening Reinforced Concrete Structures, Advanced Materials in Structural Engineering (Fiber Reinforced Polymers) and Analytical Modeling of Reinforced Concrete Structures. In addition, at this time he is also conducting research on hybrid reinforcement (FRP-steel) in reinforced concrete structures.
