Micko Tomas is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Universitas Andalas, specializing in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things (AIIoT), Embedded Systems, and intelligent cyber-physical systems for Smart Agriculture and Smart Aquaculture. His research focuses on the development of end-to-end IoT architectures that integrate edge computing, real-time monitoring, adaptive control, and AI-enhanced sensing technologies to enable autonomous and data-driven decision-making systems. He has led the design and implementation of IoT-based Smart Fish Feeder systems, solar-powered autonomous monitoring platforms, and multi-parameter environmental sensing networks, emphasizing low-latency processing, energy-efficient design, and scalable cloud integration. His work advances digital transformation initiatives aligned with Industry 4.0/5.0 and contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in sustainable food systems, environmental resilience, and smart infrastructure development.
